Faculty scheduling and course cloning

Project Overview:‍

Initial process for full lifecycle product development through ideation of sketching, wireframing and visual designs of high-fidelity screens for Faculty Scheduling and Course Cloning. Which is to drive new business, decrease internal implementation costs, and improve customer retention.

Primary Goal: Launch a product to sale an off-the-shelf course assessment feature to drive incremental business in key course area of Calculus.

Secondary Goal: Automate course setup process to reduce use of internal resources; grow custom lab business.

Tertiary Goal: To simplify large course management to enhance sales opportunity/solidify retention in desired high-enrollment course areas.

It is intended to offer a more self-service solution for our clients as well as to more efficiently handle interactions between internal teams and the publishers around the availability of titles.

— It all starts with ideation and sketches of what the application could look like when translated digitally. Here are a few samples of some of my sketching techniques to display the starting process I use from time to time.

— After identifying the content structure for the flows, I began wireframing how this content could be put into process. The focus for this exercise is to showcase the structure in a way that meets both business goals (getting users more focused and engaged) and user goals (gaining an understanding of how the platform works).

conclusion

— Reflecting on this project, the greatest success was aligning WebAssign's aggressive business objectives, decreasing internal implementation costs and driving new market sales, with a frictionless, empathetic user experience. By transforming a fragmented, multi-page setup process into a unified, self-service dashboard, faculty can now seamlessly clone complex courses and drag-and-drop assignments across multiple sections without losing critical parameters like grading tolerances or security restrictions. Ultimately, this redesign reinforced the value of a strong human-to-machine design philosophy: when we eliminate administrative friction and give instructors intuitive, contextual control over their heavy scheduling workloads, we don't just improve customer retention; we create a scalable tool that actively drives the business forward.
